Sampat Raj Bafna, who was posted at Bikaner office of Indira Gandhi Canal Project, was caught by ACB sleuths with undisclosed cash in 2011, Assistant Director (Prosecution - ACB), Barkat Ali said.
"He was caught by ACB when he was coming from Bikaner to Jodhpur on the information that he was carrying cash collected as commission," Ali said.
ACB sleuths intercepted him enroute and found him in possession of Rs 27,000. "He could not provide a satisfactory source of that cash, upon which ACB sleuths arrested him and took him to Jodhpur," he said.
After the permission for prosecution following the investigation in the case, the ACB filed the charge sheet against Bafna in the ACB Court, which sentenced him to two years imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 2,000.
