20 Raj districts record excess rainfall

The desert state of Rajasthan has recorded excess rains with 20 of its 33 districts receiving more than normal rains.
According to MeT department here, six districts recorded normal rainfall, four recorded deficit rains and two recorded abnormal rains. The rains have been scanty in one district.
Twenty districts of Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Karauli, Nagaur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Churu, Sawaimadhopur, Sikar, Tonk and Udaipur received excess rains (20 per cent to 59 per cent) from June 1 to August 3.
Bharatpur and Jhunjhunu received abnormal rains (60 per cent or more), Banswara, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Kota and Pali recorded normal rains (19 per cent to -19 per cent).
Deficit (-20 per cent to -59 per cent) rain was recorded in Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer, Jalore and Sirohi while Barmer falls in the category of scanty (-60 per cent or less) rains.
The desert state as a whole has recorded excess rains. As per the IMD, average rainfall in the state from June 1 to August 3 is 267.05 mm and against this, the state has recorded 360.45 mm rains, nearly 35 per cent higher thanthe average.
On the other hand, water level in 83 out of total 822 dams across the state is full at capacity and 426 are partially filled. Remaining 313 are empty.
