According to data provided by National Crime Record Bureau, a total number of 10,690 and 14,144 children were reported missing in 2013 and 2014 respectively whereas 3,834 and 2,676 were rescued under Human Trafficking Act during the same period, Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
"The Ministry has set up web portals 'Track Child' and 'Khoya Paya' under its centrally sponsored Integrated Child Protection Scheme to track missing and found children," Union Minister Maneka Gandhi said.
She said that WCD Ministry has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Railways to further the association and cooperation in the implementation of jointly prepared Standard Operating Procedure.
