With 240 more people testing positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours - most of them in Indore - the number of such cases in Madhya Pradesh climbed to 2,330 on Monday, while the death toll increased to 113, health officials said.
Ten more deaths were reported since Sunday evening, taking the toll in the state to 113, they said.
Of these, six deaths were reported from Indore, three from Bhopal and one from n Mandsaur, officials said.
Indore, the worst coronavirus-affected district in Madhya Pradesh, alone accounts for 63 deaths.
Since Sunday night, Indore recorded 165 new infections, followed by Bhopal and Ujjain at 13 each, Jabalpur 10, Raisen five and one each at Hoshangabad and Dewas.
Besides, the novel coronavirus entered one more district Harda - where the first case was reported on Monday, the officials said.
Overall, COVID-19 cases have been reported from 27 districts so far.
Indore has the highest tally of COVID-19 cases at 1,372 followed by Bhopal (428) and Ujjain (119).
The number of coronavirus cases in Jabalpur has now climbed to 69, while Raisen and Hoshangabad have 33 each and Dewas has 24, according to a health department bulletin.
The number of cases in other districts is: 61 in Khargone, 36 each in Dhar and Khandwa, 24 in Barwani, 13 each in Morena, Ratlam and Vidisha, Agar Malwa 11, Mandsaur 9, Shajapur six, five each in Sagar and Chhindwara, four each in Gwalior and Sheopur, three in Alirajpur, two each in Shivpuri and Tikamgarh and one each in Betul and Dindori.
No fresh cases were found in these districts on Monday.
Two patients hail from other states.
Apart from Indore, where the death toll has reached 63, 17 patients have died in Ujjain, 12 in Bhopal, six each in Dewas and Khargone, two each in Hoshangabad and Mandsaur and one each in Jabalpur, Khandwa, Chhindwara, Agar Malwa and Dhar, the bulletin said.
So far, 357 patients have recovered from the viral infection and discharged from hospitals in the state.
Coronavirus figures in Madhya Pradesh are as follows: Positive cases 2,330, fresh cases 240, deaths 113, discharged 357, active patients 1,860, total samples tested 27,009.
The bulletin, however, on Monday did not mention the number of fresh samples collected in the state as it used to do earlier.
