Police have arrested at least 25 people of Banipada village in Cuttack district for allegedly attacking a police party and injuring Choudwar police station Inspector-in-charge (IIC) Padmanav Pradhan.
ACP M R Garanaik said two groups of villagers on Thursday night were fighting a pitched battle over a previous rivalry and when police arrived at the spot, the villagers attacked the police party in which the IIC was injured when a stone pelted from the crowd hit him on his head.
"The condition of the IIC is stated to be normal after treatment and he is advised rest," Garanaik said adding that 25 persons of both the rival groups were rounded up immediately.
