2G case: Chief Investigating Officer testifies in court

The Chief Investigating Officer in the 2G spectrum allocation case today testified before a Delhi court and gave details about the investigation conducted by him and the CBI team during the probe into the case.
CBI's Superintendent of Police Vivek Priyadarshi, who is the CIO, deposed as a prosecution witness and told Special CBI Judge O P Saini about various searches and documents seized by him and his team members during the investigation.
"During investigation, a search warrant was obtained by me from this court on October 21, 2009. On the strength of this search warrant, I conducted a search of the office premises of Access Services Cell, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, Sanchar Bhawan... On October 22,2009.

"The search was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses. During the search, I seized documents from the Access Services Cell of DoT and prepared a search list in this regard," Priyadashi, who is the last prosecution witness to be examined in the case involving former Telecom Minister A Raja and 16 others, said.
His recording of statement remained inconclusive and would continue on November 11.
Meanwhile, another investigating officer S K Sinha, Deputy SP of CBI, in his deposition said it was wrong to suggest that the agency did not find any incriminating evidence against DMK MP Kanimozhi who is also an accused in the case.

"It is further wrong to suggest that on not finding any incriminating evidence against her (Kanimozhi) we manipulated the statement of P Amirtham (prosecution witness)," Sinha said during his cross examination by Kanimozhi's counsel.
He said it was wrong to suggest that they had decided to "implicate an honest woman falsely" in this case despite knowing that there was no incriminating evidence against her.
