The JMC will organise awareness camps as well as anti- rabies and anti-scabies camps in the areas falling within JMC limits, JMC Commissioner M Raju said here.
"Till date more than 3,500 stray dogs have been sterilised and immunised ward-wise in Jammu city and the programme is catching pace due to utilisation of additional infrastructure and deployment of additional staff," the officer said.
The commissioner directed that municipal veterinary officer and other officials to conduct raids on illegal pet and bird sellers and breeders.
The JMC has warned that any report of bird selling shall be acted upon as a public nuisance and the birds involved in the trade shall be confiscated.
"No advertisements of sale of birds from any unit shall be allowed within JMC limits," he said. The officer also appreciated the work of an NGO at the Municipal Animal Care Centre in Roop Nagar.
