3 arrested for manufacturing, supplying illegal weapons

Delhi Police have arrested three men for their alleged involvement in manufacturing and supplying illegal weapons, recovering 16 sophisticated country-made pistols from them.
The three accused -- Kasmuddin alias Kasmu (55), Ajay Kumar (41) and Hashim alias Sonu (19) -- were nabbed from near Seelampur Road following a chase, said Ravindra Yadav, joint commissioner of police (eastern range).
The police have launched a special drive against illicit firearms.
During the interrogation of persons arrested earlier, the name of one 'Kasmu's Katta' cropped up, he said.
'Kasmu's Katta' is cheaper than the weapons manufactured in Munger (Bihar) and are in demand here.

A special team was constituted to track Kasmu. On the basis of a tip-off, a trap was laid near 66 Foota Road near Kudaghar-Seelampur Road.

The team saw two persons on a motorcycle coming from Seelampur towards Gokalpuri. They were asked to stop by the police team but fled from the spot. However, they were arrested after a long chase.
They were identified as Kasmuddin and Ajay Kumar and were found to be in possession of 15 country-made firearms of different bores, said the officer.
Kasmuddin was found in possession of seven country-made pistols and 11 live cartridges. Police also arrested Hashim alias Sonu with one country-made pistol.

Kasmuddin revealed that he had learnt the art of preparing the illegal arms from his brother-in-law Ramzan in Muzaffarnagar.
After Ramzan's death, he shifted to his native village in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested by UP Police around eight years back.
Three years ago, he came to Loni, where he started a welding shop.
Camouflaged behind the wielding shop, he started the business of manufacturing of illegal firearms. He had been supplying arms to Ajay and one Kale of Barnava, in UP, who used to later supply them all over NCR and parts of UP, particularly western UP, said Yadav.

Kasmuddin purchased firearms barrels, fire pins, fire pin caps from Meerut and other remaining accessories were made by him. His country-made pistols are famous as 'Kasmu's Kattas' (Kasmu's guns) among criminals.
Ajay purchased firearms from Kasmuddin and live cartridges from one Rajneesh for Rs 200 per cartridge and sold it at Rs 400 per cartridge. They used to sell the country-made pistols to criminals in Delhi and UP for close to Rs 5,000.
