3 central jails to function as foreigners' detention centres

Assam Government has notified Central Jails of Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Tezpur as Detention Centre to keep declared foreigners temporarily till such a separate Detention Centre are established for the purpose.
Only male inmates may be accommodated in Dibrugarh Central Jail while both male and female inmates may be accommodated in Jorhat and Tezpur central jails, a government release said today.
Illegal migrants are declared foreigners by the Foreigners Tribunal in Assam.
