3-day meet of Indian Institute of Architects showcases Bengal

'Bangiyo Sthapattakala' (architectural marvels of Bengal), a three-day exhibition of the works of architect members of the premier Indian Institute of Architects, Bengal chapter came to end today with the innovative works of young urban-designers showcased.
The three-day meet was held on the 100th year of The Indian Institute of Architects and a publication of the history of the Bengal Chapter 'Nostalgia' was released on the occasion.
Painter Jogen Chowdhury advocated the need for documenting our architectural works on the lines of Bangladesh during his inaugural speech on June 9.
Young architect and urban designer Monica Khosla Bhargav set up her unique floral art and architecture installation with flowers, leaves, bamboo poles to make a statement about global warming.
Khosla will represent India at the WAFA World Flower Show at Barbados during June 18-25, 2017.
On the last day, three young architects - Alokananda Banerjee Mikherjee, Sudipta Seal and Anirban Bhaduri Mandal came up with their works.
Uncommon Sense, a film on the life and work of legendary architect Laurie Baker, was screened on the inaugural day directed by his grandson Vineet Radhakrishnan.
