According to Delhi Police, following a complaint by an e-commerce firm that some persons were booking mobile phones using fraudulently obtained credit/debit card details, a police team arrested the trio of Amit Jajoria, Sandeep Sharma and Bhanu Pandey from the Main market in Defence Colony.
The three are alleged to have duped innocent persons by posing as bank tele-callers and making fake calls to people to obtain their account details, which they would then use to shop for goods online, said DCP (south district) Prem Nath.
Upon interrogation, it was found that the accused had booked an I-Phone through the complainant firm's e-commerce portal for which the payment was made using the credit card details of a person employed with an IT company, Nath said.
The accused would call people in states like Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra and, on some pretext or the other, procure bank details and the passwords of their credit or debit cards, he said.
The accused spoke fluent English and would easily obtain confidential details from gullible people, the officer said.
Police said they have recovered four expensive mobile phones, fake IDs and other incriminating material from the accused.
They said that Pandey used to procure all the data and details of targets from a call centre in Naraina Vihar where he worked as a tele-caller.
Amit, who is a B.Tech from a prestigious university, earlier ran his own IT company in Rohini and had also worked at a call centre. Sandeep works as a career counsellor at a prestigious engineering college, the DCP added.
