The Allahabad High Court has sought response of the Uttar Pradesh government on a PIL, seeking CBI/SIT probe on alleged Rs 261 crore scam in installing solar lights and solar panel fans in Lohia villages of the state.
The Lucknow bench of the court granted one week time to state counsel to seek instructions in this matter.
A division bench of Justices Dinesh Maheshwari and Ritu Raj Awasthi yesterday passed this order on a PIL filed by a local lawyer Anand Dwivedi.
He alleged that the aforesaid work had alloted to two companies of Rajasthan without inviting open tenders for it by rural development department, which was against the norms.
He submitted that under Lohia Village Development Scheme, in the years 2012-13 and 2013-14, the solar lights and solar panel fans had to be installed.
This work was not done properly and
anomalies/irregularities of 261 crore had been committed, the petitioner further alleged.
He sought direction for proper probe of this alleged scam by CBI or special investigation team (SIT).
On the other hand the state government's counsel sought time to seek complete instructions from the state government regarding this matter to place it's response.
The court while fixing April 16, as the next date of hearing the matter, provided a week time to him for the same, the petitioner said.
