Three persons were arrested and 2,000 litre of English wine worth Rs 11 lakh was seized from them on the Meerut-Karnal Highway at Bidoli Check Cost under Jhinjhana Police Station limits in Shamli district on Saturday, officials said.
A police team, led by SHO OP Choudhry, intercepted a truck in which smuggled wine was being smuggled from Haryana to UP, SP Ajay Kumar Pandey told PTI.
The arrested have been identified as Kamender Singh, Lakhmendra and Sukhminder Singh, during interrogation it was revealed that the wine was being stored for supply during the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
