Acting on a tip-off Satvinder Singh, Satnam Chaudhary and Bhupinder Kumar were arrested yesterday and 2 kg smack, two pistols, one country-made pistol, a single-barrel gun, live cartridges and a car were seized from their possession, Hoshiarpur SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said.
A car was asked to stop at a 'naka' set up on Garshankar-Nangal road near Himachal barrier yesterday.
But instead of stopping, the occupants of the car accelerated the speed and went towards Mansowal village, Chahal said, adding, they also opened fire at the police which was chasing them.
A case under relevant sections of IPC, Arms Act and NDPS Act, police said.
During preliminary investigation, all the accused confessed their involvement in a number of crimes, police claimed.
A number of criminal cases for murder and robbery had been registered against them in various police stations of the state.
