3 SSA officials show-caused for 'misuse' of funds

Three block level officials Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Hailakandi district have been served show cause notice for alleged misuse of funds leading to procurement of poor quality school uniform, an official release said today.

The district SSA Coordinator F R Laskar issued the show cause letter to Block Elementary Education Officers (BEEOs) of Katlicherra, Hailakandi and Lala yesterday.

"Even after my strict instruction on April 3, no action was taken from your end till today, which naturally proves your failure in regulating the process of procurement of good quality school uniforms," the release said quoting the Laskar's letter.

The BEEOs have been asked to reply to the show cause notice within three days or else disciplinary proceedings would be drawn against them, the release said.

Several organisations and public representatives, including Hailakandi MLA Anowar Hussain Laskar have alleged large-scale misappropriation of funds in the name of procurement of school uniforms.

Three head teachers of Katlicherra Education Block had been placed under suspension for their alleged involvement in the scam, the release added.
