"Total 33 FIRs have been lodged against 50 people, including former chairman of Nagar Palika Parishad of Nawabganj and BJP leader Ravindra Singh Rathore in three days for wrong allotment of 38 shops," IG (Administration) Prakash D told reporters in Lucknow.
He said that contrary to some media reports, the FIRs were lodged over a period of three days.
The FIRs have been lodged by sitting chairman Shahla Tahir, he said.
Tahir has alleged that Rathore, during his tenure, got fake papers prepared and allotted the shops to people close to him.
The DIG has handed over the inquiry to ASP (rural) Brijesh Srivastava.
