38 Naval personnel honoured at investiture ceremony

Indian Navy today honoured 38 recipients of the President's Gallantry and non-Gallantry awards during the investiture ceremony at Naval dockyard, onboard the aircraft carrier INS Viraat, here.
Yudh Seva Medal (YSM), awarded for distinguish service of high order during war, conflict and hostilities, was presented to five personnel by Navy Chief Admiral R K Dhowan.
YSM was awarded to Rear Admiral Biswajeet Dasgupta, Captain Alok Ananda, Inder Singh Ojha, Satya Ranjan Mondal and Keshar Singh Chaudhaury.
Captain Rajesh Dhankar, INS Mumbai, and Captain Pradeep Singh, INS Tarkash, were honoured with Nao Sena medal (Gallantry) for their valiant effort during the evacuation exercise at Yemen.

Besides the duo, Commander Sanjay Shukla, a helicopter pilot, Anil Kumar and Thongban Prakash Singh, both aircrew men divers, were awarded with Nao Sena Medal for rescue of 19 persons from MV Jindal Kamakashi and MV coastal pride which were in distress off the Mumbai coast in most challenging conditions.
Commander Ashok Kumar also received Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) for recovery of body and salvage of wreck of Dornier aircraft at a depth of 58 metre that had ditched off Karwar in Karnataka.
Apart from these, eight Nao Sena Medals for devotion of duty, 15 Vishist Sewa Medals, one Jeewan Rakshak Padak, one Captain Ravi Dhir and one Lieutenant VK Jain Memorial Gold medal were also presented.
