In a freak incident, four local boys drowned in a pond following flash floods as heavy rains lashed the hills here, where the cave temple of Lord Kapileswara is located, police said.
The boys went for swimming in one of the three natural ponds linked by cascading waters on the hills here.
Due to a sudden cloud burst, a powerful torrent of water gushed into the pond sweeping the boys down to a lower pond from a height of 500 feet, police said.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced an assistance of Rs two lakh each to the bereaved families, police said.
