4 DGCA officials censured, children had jobs with airlines

Four DGCA officials, including a Director, have been censured for not informing the aviation regulator's office about employment of their children in airline companies.
Under the Rules of Conduct, the officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation have to intimate or obtain permission from the government regarding employment of their dependents in the civil aviation sector.
The four officials -V P Massey, Director (Airworthiness), James George, Assistant Director (Airworthiness), R K Yadav, Assistant Director (Airworthiness) and Rajiv Gaur, Assistant Director (AE) were awarded the penalty of censure for violating the Conduct Rules, a Civil Aviation Ministry statement said.
Disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the officers after approval of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) following a detailed enquiry in the matter, considered as violation of Rules of Conduct, the statement said.

While Massey's wards reportedly work in no frill carriers IndiGo and SpiceJet, Gaur's ward works for a private aerospace company. Yadav's wards were employed by Air India and now defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
Earlier, in a bid to check alleged rampant nepotism in the DGCA, government had barred nine DGCA officials, including a Joint DG, from taking decisions relating to the carrier in which their children work.
