While immersing the idol, one of them slipped into the river and three others who tried to save their friend were also swept in the strong currents, police said.
After a rescue operation of about one and a half hour, all four were taken out of the river and rushed to CMC Hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead, they said.
The victims were identified as Raj Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Sushil Kumar and Yograj of Prem Nagar locality here.
