The four were arrested for the purpose of investigation, the Superintendent of Police of Birbhum district, N Sudheer Kumar, said.

They were produced before a local court here today and remanded to seven days' police custody, a police officer said.

In a named FIR, the victim's father had accused a local BJP leader of being involved in the incident.

The accused leader also received a bullet injury during the violence and was admitted to a hospital.

The BJP leader's mother, in a counter-complaint had named eight persons who allegedly attacked BJP workers.
