4 held in Hyd for placing bets on IPL tie

Cyberabad Police here have busted a cricket betting racket with the arrest of four persons who allegedly wagered on an ongoing IPL match over phone.
Based on credible information that betting was on at a flat in Swaroopnagar of Uppal, a police team raided the place last night and found four persons allegedly indulging in betting huge amount on the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Police seized Rs 1.95 lakh in cash, 40 mobile phones, two laptops and two cars from the possession of the accused.
They are using IPL cricket matches for placing bets with customers with huge money, Cyberabad Police stated in a release today.
The accused were identified as N Bheemeshwar Rao, P Mallikarjun, J Suresh and N Rama Rao.
They contacted one bookie, identified only as Ravi who is absconding, for placing bets and efforts were on to nab him, the release said.
