Police said they were acting as per court orders to remove some encroachments from a 'mohalla' (residential area) in Sirsa City when they faced stiff resistance from those who were to be evicted.
"They first blocked roads at two places. We tried to persuade them to cooperate, but they did not listen. Soon afterwards they pelted stones at us resulting in injuries to two persons and two home guard jawans. A police bus was also damaged during stone pelting by the mob," SHO, Sirsa City, Subhash Chander said.
Chander said the situation was later brought under control.
