Four men were arrested today for allegedly performing dangerous stunts on a local train and snatching the mobile phone of a commuter standing on the suburban railway station platform on July 30, police said.
The video of the stunts and snatching of the mobile phone, which was shot by one of the four, had gone viral on the social media, a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said today.
The incident occurred on July 30 afternoon between Chunabhatti and GTB Nagar railway stations on the Harbour line of Central Railway (CR), he said.
GRP DCP Samadhan Pawar said the Wadala Railway police arrested three persons from Kurla in the eastern suburb and another from Mumbra in neighbouring Thane district.
They are identified as Mohammed Ali Amir Ali Sheikh (19), Mohammed Jayid Shaikh (19), Rohit Chaurasia (20) and Shahbaz Mohammed Khan (18).
The video purportedly shows the young men dangling outside the door of a speeding train and stepping back in the nick of time to avoid collisions with electric poles and passing trains.
The youths can be purportedly seen moving from one door to another by dangling outside the coach.
While One of them runs along the speeding train at a station, another youth purportedly snatches a mobile phone from a passenger standing on the platform at the GTB Nagar station.
The stunt was filmed by a gang member, police said.
Police have recovered the stolen mobile phone from the accused persons, the official said.
