Police said Assistant Sub Inspector Siyad was among those injured.
Four police personnel had gone to take the accused into cusody when they were attacked with iron rods and hacked at Kayamkulam this evening, allegedly by relatives of the man, police said.
All the four policemen have been hospitalised.
