At least 40 students of an institution in Sonitpur had a miraculous escape when the bus in which they were travelling suddenly caught fire but they managed to escape, the police said.
The students, who were from Serega Foundation Junior Academy of Rowta in Sonitpur district, managed to scramble out of the bus when it caught fire at Goreswar due to some technical problem, the police said.
Seven of them suffered minor injuries, the police said.
The students were travelling to Bagmati near Indo-Bhutan border for a picnic.
Locals rushed to the spot and took the injured to the hospital, while fire engines doused the flames after fighting for nearly an hour, the police added.
