40-year-old woman commits suicide

A 40-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in Salarpur area here, police said today.
Asha was rushed to a hospital where she died today. Her husband Manoj has registered a complaint against his neighbour Santosh for abatement of suicide, they said. The complainant claimed that his wife had given Santosh a loan of Rs 1.60 lakh, which he refused to return despite being requested several times, police said.
Manoj alleged that last evening when Asha had gone to meet Santosh, he misbehaved with her. She was upset and consumed the poisonous substance, they said.
The matter is being investigated. The accused is absconding, police said.

In another incident at Jarcha village, armed miscreants barged into a house and looted 40 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs 2.50 lakh cash yesterday.
Police said the victim, Islam, had kept the cash and gold at his house for a marriage in the family.

Islam has lodged a complaint. No one has been arrested yet, they said.
Meanwhile, Noida Phase 2 police has arrested a man, who had allegedly killed his wife on February 11 at Salarpur here. He was absconding since then, police said today.
At Sector 16, a woman was seriously injured after a gas cylinder exploded when she was cooking food last night and in a separate incident a 5-year-old girl was injured in a fire at her juggi (hut).

Both are undergoing treatment at a hospital here, police said.
