A loader, a mini vehicle used to transport goods, collided with a truck and overturned, SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said.
The loader was returning from Jahanabad carrying 30 persons, he said.
The deceased have been identified as Mulayam Singh (23), Ram Sultan (40), Jai Narayan (45), Sukh Nandan (45). The one other deceased is yet to be identified, police said.
The driver of the loader along with eight other persons were injured in the accident. The two who are critically injured have been admitted to the Medical college. Six others have admitted to the Community Health centre at Sajeti, he said.
The police is investigating the matter. Family members of the deceased have been informed and the efforts are on to identify the unidentified people.
