Five people were killed when their tractor fell into a ditch in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district on Sunday night, police said.
Four of the victims were engaged in laying electricity cables in the Atarra area of the district and were returning from work to the local panchayat building, Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal said.
"The vehicle fell into a compost pit and overturned, killing four labourers and the driver. The post mortem report will reveal if they died after getting trapped or due to electrocution as a live wire which snapped from a post was found at the spot," he added.
Four of the deceased were identified as Suraj Sahu (27), Akshay Khairwar (21), Rajkumar Netam (24) and Ramayan Sahu (23), the SP said, adding that the identity of one person was yet to be ascertained.
