Five jail officials, including jailor, and seven prisoners were today injured in a clash at district jail Etah after a cell phone was recovered from a prisoner during a search operation, police said.
"In the clash, five jail officials -- the jailor, deputy jailor and three warders -- and seven prisoners were injured," Kotwali Police station Inspector Sriniwas Yadav said.
An FIR has been lodged by the deputy jailor under various sections of the IPC against the prisoners who assaulted the jail officials, Yadav said.
The relatives of some prisoners who met them after the incident, said that the jail warders have brutally beaten them up during the incident.
