5 members of family drown in tank in Telangana

Five members of a family, including three children, allegedly drowned in a tank today during a visit to attend the marriage of one of their relatives in neighbouring Medak District, police said.

40-year old Mohammed Imtiyaz, hailing from Hyderabad, his 28-year old wife and three children - aged between 8 and 16 -- drowned in the tank in Ahmednagar Kannaram village, they said.

The family members came to the village, located about 55 km from Hyderabad, to attend the wedding of a relative and went to the tank for a swim in the afternoon when the mishap occurred.

The bodies of the couple and their daughter and two sons had been recovered and sent to a government hospital, police said adding further investigation was on.
