The Primary Education Board today announced a five per cent relaxation on the Higher Secondary examination cut-off marks for reserved category candidates of West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test (WB TET).
Primary Education Board president Anik Bhattacharya told reporters that general category candidates would have to score at least 50 per cent and the reserved category aspirants - SC, ST and OBC- 45 per cent in the Higher Secondary examination to be eligible to appear in the WB-TET.
The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in state-aided primary schools.
The five per cent relaxation will also be applicable for family members of a state government employee, who died in harness, he said.
Bhattacharya also spoke about the other criteria that a candidate has to fulfil to sit for the test.
"The other criteria for the test would be the completion of a two-year teachers' training programme and the board will offer no relaxation on that," he said.
The board president did not announce any date for the entrance but asserted that the test would be held this year. The notification for TET was posted on the board's website yesterday.
Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had also spelt out the eligibility criteria for TET, with an emphasis on the two-year teachers' training course, during a press meet two days ago.
The TET, 2017 would be held to fill around 30,000 vacancies in primary schools.
