5 suspected militants, policeman arrested in J&K

Six suspected militants, including a policeman were arrested during two separate operations by security forces in the city and Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Acting on an intelligence input about the presence of the Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, the security forces launched a search operation in Batamaloo police station area of the city, official sources said.
Five suspected militants of LeT were arrested during the operation, they said, adding weapons and explosives were recovered from their possession.
One of the arrested persons is a policeman hailing from Karnah area of Kupwara district.
In another operation, police arrested a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen from Wampora area of Kulgam district, the sources said.

The captured Hizbul Mujahideen militant was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan who operated under aliases Muna Khan, Waseem and Jafar, a resident of of Batmaloo locality of Srinagar, a police spokesman said.
A pistol, one grenade and some ammunition were also recovered from him.
The militant was captured on a specific information by a joint search party of police, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF, the spokesman said, adding Khan was involved in number of subversive activities and has got into militant ranks a couple of months ago.
Besides Khan, the spokesman said one more person - Mohammad Yaqoob Dar of Hamdanpora-Rampora Kulgam, was also arrested for providing logistic support to the militant.
