6 die due to 'fever' in Muzaffarnagar

Six persons have died due to suspected Chikungunya fever in this district in the last two days.
Three persons -- Shashikala (60), Yusuf (30), Mukesh (38) -- died due to "fever" in Baseda village here while Devender (33) and Monish (4) died in Chudyali village. Ashya (40) died of fever at Purkazi town in the district.
Several people, including children and women, are suffering from fever, which is being suspected as Chikungunya, and are under going treatment at different hospitals here, officials said.
Chief Medical Officer Subodh Kumar said medical teams have been sent to treat affected people. Fogging has also been started in the affected areas, he said.
