6 kg cannabis seized, 1 held in J&K

A inter-state narcotic smuggler was today arrested on the charge of transporting cannabis here and 6 Kg of drugs were recovered from his possession, police said.
Police intercepted a Jammu-bound bus from Delhi at Lakhanpur checkpost on highway in Kathua district and during search, one person tried to escape from the bus today, Police officials said.
The Police team immediately arrested the person, they said adding that during the checking 6 kg of cannabis recovered from his possession.
The arrested person, identified as Tawi kumar alais Bala, is a resident of New Delhi, they said.
He was inter-state smuggler of narcotics and had come to supply the narcotics to Jammu, police said adding that a case was registered and they have started investigation, they said.
