They said five miners were rescued from the flooding in Dongyu Coal Mine near Taiyuan, capital of the coal-rich Shanxi Province.
The rescue operation ended today and the survivors were being treated, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Officials said there were 11 miners when the flooding occurred yesterday.
It was not clear what caused the flooding.
China, the world's largest coal producer, witnesses frequent accidents at mines. In March, 17 miners were killed when a lift used to move workers collapsed in northeastern Heilongjiang province.
