64-yr-old man held for allegedly raping minor relative

A 64-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his minor niece in South Goa district, the police said today.
The accused, Kondlo Vithoba Velip, living in Morpirla village of Quepem taluka, allegedly confined the 10-year-old girl in a room at a house in his neighbourhood where he raped her yesterday, a police spokesman said.
The accused was immediately arrested, he said.
Cuncolim police have registered a case against Velip under sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 376 (rape) of IPC, section 8(ii) of Goa Children's Act and sections 3 and 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, the spokesman added.
