In the first incident, forty kg of ganja was seized from two women who were arrested from Madurai by Narcotics Control Bureau personnel for allegedly hoarding and selling it in their house, NCB officials and police said.
The women are indentified as Muthammal and Nagajothi.
The NCB sleuths made the seizure after some personnel were sent as decoy buyers to the house of Muthammal.
As the men in plain clothes were bargaining with her after buying a small quantity of ganja, other NCB personnel entered the house and arrested both the women.
The police raided the house of one Muniyandi and seized ganja from there and arrested two persons. However, two others managed to escape and a search was on to nab them, police said.
The action came following complaints that ganja was being sold on the roadside, near colleges and bus stand in Srivilliputhur and neighbouring Rajapalayam, they said.
