7,000 youths from J-K to be trained under Udaan

At least 7,000 youths from Jammu and Kashmir will soon be trained for various skills to be absorbed in reputed companies like Tata and Reliance under a special scheme.
The youths with graduate and post graduate degrees will be picked from across the state, including militancy-prone towns like Sopore, under the Centrally sponsored scheme Udaan, a special scheme launched to help youths from Jammu and Kashmir to get jobs in top companies.
"We had a discussion with several companies like Tata and Reliance two days ago for recruiting next batch of youths -- around 7,000, under the Udaan," a senior government official said.

The scheme is being implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The programme aims at providing the skill and enhancing the employability of 40,000 unemployed youths of the state who are graduates and post graduates.
As many youths are not willing to leave Kashmir valley, government is planning to give special incentives to those who are willing to work in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore or Gurgaon.
"The special allowance will be given for at least six months so that the youths can acclimatise themselves in another city," the official said.

The government is also planning to provide accommodation to Kashmiri youths in groups of 3-4 in bigger cities.

"There are risk of keeping youths together as they may involve in other activities. But we are ready to take that risk," the official said.
According to the scheme, the identified companies will screen and select students from the state. The duration, place and nature of training will be decided by the company after considering the profile of the candidates and their skill gap.
After completion of the training, the company will take necessary measures for placement of the trainees in association with NSDC.
