The children died in BRD Medical College Hospital here since last evening, they said adding four of them were from Deoria and one each Gorakhpur, Kushinagar and Bihar.
With these deaths, the number of fatalities in eastern UP from the disease since this year rose to 435, the officials said.
Twenty-three persons with symtoms of encephalitis were admitted to BRD-MCH yesterday, they said.
Since January this year, 2120 encephalitis patients, of whom 435 succumbed to the brain-inflammation, were admitted to the hospitals, the officials said.
