Keshav Singh Tagore, an architect by profession, was hit with a stick and injured seriously by unknown assailants in Bharwari Nagar panchayat area last night, police said today.
The miscreants looted jewellery of his wife before escaping from the spot, they added.
Tagore was initially taken to a private hospital and he died while he was being taken to Allahabad for treatment, police said.
Prima facie, it appears to be a case of robbery, Additional Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Pandey said, adding, a dog squad and fingerprint experts have been sent to the crime spot for investigation.
