"As many as 76 per cent of children of the age group of 6 to 14 years are presently enrolled in schools in Jammu and Kashmir, which is an encouraging trend," the Union Minister for Human Resource Development said.
He was addressing a function after laying the foundation stone of Central University of Kashmir with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here.
Technical education and skill development have been recognised as thrust areas and 'Young India' is being nurtured in these fields to become global leaders, he said.
"I want to have this university here as soon as possible. Today there are 40 Central universities in the country. This is a beautiful place and the university at this place will attract international faculty," he said.
"And when international faculty comes here, international quality research will take place benefiting students," he said.
