Delhi witnessed overcast skies and foggy conditions on Saturday, with the maximum temperature plunging four notches below normal to settle at 17.9 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was 8.2 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, a meteorological department official said.
The Met office said there was a likelihood of rainfall on January 5 and 6.
The visibility was recorded at 400 metres at 5.30 am at Safdarjung, which increased to 500 metres at 8.30 am, while at Palam, the visibility was 150 metres at 5.30 am which improved to 250 metres at 8.30 am.
The weather office has forecast dense to very dense fog in the morning for Sunday. "The skies will be mainly clearly in the morning and there will smoke and haze thereafter."
