8 cops hurt in violence in Bijnore

Eight policemen were injured and several vehicles damaged when a mob, protesting power cuts in Bijnore district, indulged in heavy brickbatting today.
The trouble arose when over 300 persons gathered at Afzalgarh sub-station in Bijnore to protest frequent power cuts, police said.
When police tried to disperse them, the protesters resorted to brickbatting damaging some vehicles and injuring eight policemen.
An inspector, 3 sub-inspectors, 3 constables and a homeguard were injured in the violence, police said.
The situation was later brought under control, they said.
