The eight-lane Bhalswa Flyover, built at a cost of Rs 47 crore, will be thrown open to the people of the national capital tomorrow by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will dedicate t.
The flyover, part of the 20 km-long Vikaspuri-Wazirabad signal-free elevated corridor, is aimed at easing traffic on Outer Ring Road.
The construction work of the project was started by the Public Works Department (PWD) in November, 2013 which is executing the works of signal-free corridor.
"Eight-lane flyover will be thrown open for public by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow. PWD Minister Satyendar Jain will apprise people of benefits about the project. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will also be present at the event," said a senior government official.
The newly-constructed flyover will help decongest traffic in Bhalswa, Burari, Rohini and result in commuters saving on fuel, the official said, adding that around 1.80 lakh vehicles will use this stretch daily.
Another official said PWD has saved money in the project which has been completed before its deadline.
The PWD had in January opened the elevated corridor between Mangolpuri and Madhuban Chowk in north-west Delhi and opened its next section at Mukerba Chowk.
In the Mangolpuri and Madhuban Chowk project, government claimed to have saved Rs 123.05 crore in the construction of that phase.
Thereafter, the six-lane Burari Flyover was opened for the motorists in North Delhi. Delhi government has claimed to have saved Rs 104 crore in the first phase of the project, from Prem Bari to Azadpur that was inaugurated in November last year.
The flyovers, which are being constructed under the project of Vikaspuri-Wazirabad signal-free elevated corridor, are being completed one by one.
