8 new reserve police battalions to be raised in AP, Telangana

The central government has approved raising of eight India Reserve Police (IRP) battalions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in a phased manner.
The decision has been taken by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who approved raising of two battalions in each state in the current fiscal and one battalion each in the next two financial years.
As per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, the central government is committed to assist the successor states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to raise additional police force.
As per the approved scheme, the Centre will reimburse a maximum amount of Rs 51.19 crore per IRP battalion which includes Rs 26.19 crore as 75 per cent of the standard of raising i.E. Rs 34.92 crore and 50 per cent of the infrastructure cost (excluding cost of land) up to a maximum of Rs 25.00 crore, an official release said.
