93-year-old woman wins gram panchayat poll in Maharashtra

In a rare case, a 93-year-old woman won the gram panchayat poll in Dhore Bhamburwadi in Khed tehsil of Pune district.
Gangubai Bhambure filed her nomination papers against an array of political heavyweights.
The results were declared in her favour today as almost the entire village voted for her.
Bhamburwadi gram panchayat body comprises nine members.
After the results, the villagers took out her procession.
Bhambure said that her priority would be to solve the drinking water problem and improve the condition of roads in the village.
