The percentage of revenue from both domestic and international cargo operations declined to 2.35 per cent in financial year 2013-14 as against a share of 2.58 per cent in the overall revenue in 2012-13, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
The share of cargo revenue in AAI's total revenue in the fiscal 2011-12 stood at 3.72 per cent, he said.
The minister also said that cargo feasibility studies are conducted from time to time, based upon the requirements, and accordingly basic infrastructure in provided.
"Moreover, AAI has decided to use old/redundant buildings with minor modifications such as civil/electrical works or by creating a new facility for international cargo operations. AAI has already established common user domestic cargo terminals at Coimbatore, Lucknow and Jaipur airports," the minister added.
