The actor, sporting a beefed up look for his next film 'Dangal', said despite hitting the milestone number age-wise, he still feels like he is in his early 20s.
Aamir said he felt "privileged and fortunate" to have been a part of the industry.
"I have always worked from my heart and very few people get this opportunity. I feel grateful. I want to thank all the writers and directors with whom I have worked and it is their conviction that I have reached here," he said.
"We all are turning 50 in the same year but we are not more than 18-20 years. And in three years we will turn 25," he said.
Aamir, who feels shy about celebrating his birthday, attributed his success to a combination of hard work and luck. "I have learnt a lot from my mistakes and failures. Failures have taught me what to do and what not to do," he said.
The actor has piled on 22 kilos for 'Dangal', which will go to floor in September.
"Physical transformation is tough at any age and when you play with your body it is indeed tough. But as an actor I am enjoying this phase. If you are strict and disciplined then you can achieve this. When I look myself in the mirror, I feel weird sometimes," he said.
The actor said 'Dangal' is about a father and his daughters.
