'Abducted' teenage girl rescued from Odisha, 2 held

A teenage girl, who was allegedly abducted while returning from school last month, has been rescued from Odisha's Bhadrak and the two accused apprehended, police said.
The girl, staying in Narkeldanga area, was returning home when Feroz Alam and Mohammed Abdullah, both in their early 20s, allegedly abducted her on July 27, a senior police officer said.
"The girl's family got a Rs 1 lakh ransom call from a mobile number and working on its location we tracked down the miscreants' position in Odisha's Bhadrak," the investigating officer said.
A team of Kolkata Police officers reached Bhadrak and along with Odisha Police rescued the Class IX student from a house last evening, he said.
The duo and the girl have been brought to the city today, he said, adding, "The girl is absolutely okay and they have not harmed her in anyway."
On the motive behind the "abduction" and whether the accused duo have any local connection in Narkeldanga area, the officer said, "Nothing is clear now. The matter is still under investigation and we are interrogating them.
